Madison (between Wabash and State Sts.) has a new show!

The featured artists this month are Chicago photographers, Ron Gordon and Sandra Steinbrecher.

From Ron: "For the past 35 years I have been photographing the changing landscape of urban architecture. Much of my work has been focused on the passage of time and its effect on the form and texture of the built environment. As I have progressed and changed along with my subjects, I perceived a spatial as well as a temporal change."

From Sandra: " My favorite images tell stories. In 2008, Chicago Public Schools hired me to create a photo diary of the challenging “turnaround” year at Harper High School, an underachieving public school in Englewood, on Chicago’s south side. During the first year, I captured the successes and triumphs of the students and the staff, as well as their struggles and setbacks. I am thrilled to be part of a project which is improving some of the most troubled schools in Chicago."

Opening Reception at the Pop-Up Art Gallery sponsored by the Chicago Loop Alliance:

Friday February 5, 2010 6-8 pm.

Drop by our pop art gallery at 29 E. Madison (between Wabash and State next to the 7-11).

Right now, we haven’t decided on the name of the gallery but ... it doesn’t matter. What matters is ... we are opening!

The gallery is at 29 E. Madison in the loop and it will be open starting at 11 am.

Who we are ...

We call ourselves (for now) The Chicago Photography Collective. We are a group of professional photographers that have come together to build a sense of community. It started as a group fo four people having lunch once a month, and now has more than twenty members.

Website (under construction): The Chicago Photography Collective

About the Gallery

The gallery is part of PopUp Galleries, an initiative started by the Chicago Loop Alliance to use art to draw people to the downtown area.

If you happen to be in this neck of the woods, please drop by. We are guaranteed to be on until the end of December.
