One of the most popular temples in Angkor for tourists to visit is this temple called Ta Prohm as it is heavily promoted by guides and tuk tuk drivers. This is because this was the location for Angelina Jolie's Tomb Raider movie which really made use of the temple's eerie qualities - fig trees growing on the crumbling infrastructure, for one.
North gate tower of Angkor Thom rising in between trees. It feels like you are discovering this ruin for the first time when you see this among the tree branches.
Preah Kahn is a relatively large complex at the Angkor Archaelogical Park, completed sometime in the early 11th century. It is not as popular as Angkor Wat, it is partially restored and you can walk around the temple without bumping into crowds. But during it's heydey, this city that was built in the jungle was home to over 100,000 people. I actually got lost here, I was to meet my tuktuk driver at the opposite end the temple but I got disorientated when exploring inside :-(.
